What's the Proper Way to Install Innovation Strings?
Innovation Strings use a non-steel core for strings, as well as nylon wrapping on many of the string families. As such, they require a little more thought during install than a typical steel core string.
Please make sure the the nut and bridge grooves are slotted appropriately for the strings to move freely. A nut/bridge groove that "pinches" the string can pull the string windings apart. Also check and ensure that there are no sharp corners or edges around the slots, as those can also cut into the nylon wrapping of the string.
Graphite or wax is recommended to coat the nut and bridge grooves, to guarantee a smooth and trouble free operation and ease of tuning.

Are the GHS Made Innovation Strings Different from the Original UK Innovation Strings?
When GHS took over Innovation Strings, we used the same materials called for on the original recipe sheets, using the same machinery that was brought over. The only difference at that point was the artisan winding the string, which plays a crucial role. Even at this beginning stage, the US manufactured Innovation Strings were slightly different than the original UK ones.
Since then, GHS has worked diligently to bring its 50+ years of string experience to Innovation, while still keeping true to its origins. We have made necessary tweaks/edits to existing recipe sheets based on artist feedback or material availability. The biggest change has been in machinery. By custom building an automated machine specifically for Innovation Strings, it allows our string artisans more control over the winding process, allowing them to be more precise on a consistent basis.
Simply put, GHS is firmly committed to continuing the Innovation Double Bass String family in a way that is forward thinking, while still playing tribute and respect to its UK origins.
